Crossed Anchors Brewing Bar - Case Study

Crossed Anchors Brewing came to us enquiring about a bespoke manufactured building that they could use for events as a bar; it needed to be hard-wearing, transportable and customised to contain their staff and bar-area.

After several meetings to discuss function and design, and with a rough plan presented from the client, we are able to construct what they needed.

The functionality of the bar was already set by the customer, and after several meetings to discuss the design and their needs, we understood the brief which allowed us to create a bespoke structure. The design was provided as a rough plan by the client, and we were able to proceed with the build.

With transportation being a vital element we had to ensure the structure could be assembled and disassembled with ease, as our clients aim was to pop-up in many different on-site event spaces.

The transportable bar needed to be practical and optimise space. Opening hatches were installed for serving customers, with a long running bar incorporated in the design and sills at the hatches to ensure there was plenty of space to set drinks when serving. Built-in shelving for storage with hidden bar functions inside meant we optimised all the space we had.

We selected substantial timber for the construction as this a large structure and will receive lots of footfall, as well as being moved frequently, so durability is a key part to this design. As this building is being used at public events, we have all the appropriate risk assessments and insurance covered when creating this building.

Security is key, we decided on Yale locks for all access areas. For the construction of the roof we opted for heavy duty timber as this would support the signage the client planned to install on the roof, and the covering was felt roofing.

After construction and when on site at its first location, the client arranged all their electrical and equipment install for the building prior to its first use.

The structure has been assembled and dissembled by us four times now for various events and has been a huge success, one of these events was the Exeter Christmas Market inside one of the drinking tents. We carry out all the assembling and dissembling of this building for the client when required, on average it takes us around six hours to assemble/ dissemble each time. We also transport the structure to and from the client's storage areas for safe-keeping between events.

The structure continues to provide Crossed Anchors Brewing an excellent base from which to bring their quality ales and beer to the public wherever they need to go.
